Our story

Camira Music has been providing music tuition in the Western suburbs for over 37 years and we are proud to be a family owned and operated business.  We are now into our third generation!

Joseph Snr
Teaching music has been a family tradition since the early 1950’s when Joseph Wisniewski(Snr.) opened a music school in Melbourne.

Joseph shared his love of music with his children and in the late sixties, Joseph’s son Joe began studying at the Melba Conservatorium of Music whilst teaching the guitar and bass at his father’s school. It wasn’t long before Joseph’s daughter Marie also began teaching at the school and is still teaching to this day at Camira Music.

Joe’s talent for performing led him to join a very successful band that toured Australia several times during the late 60’s and early 70’s.  Upon settling in Brisbane, Joe started his own music school with then wife Roberta, and Camira Music Academy opened in 1976. To no surprise, Joe’s dad, and all the family moved up from Melbourne and once again taught together.

After teaching at Camira Music for 37 years, Joe has decided to take a break and the school has now been handed down to Joe’s daughter Zyra.

Zyra has had experience both in teaching and performing. For over 10 years, she has been  a member of the Wiley Reed band, playing the bass guitar at many festivals around the country. Zyra has been teaching at Camira Music since 2002 and has completed a Bachelor of Science (Neuroscience) and a Graduate Diploma in Secondary education. She taught at a local high school for a number of years before moving to Sydney in 2011 where she was the assistant manager of a well-known tutoring centre. In 2012, Zyra moved backed to Brisbane to manage Camira Music. She is well versed in a variety of teaching methods and brings a unique perspective to music tuition.
